A Dwarf's mane is a sign of maturity and respectability, a true status symbol among the mountain folks. A long beard and a glorious mane of hair are symbols of prosperity and a display of dignity, especially when they are well groomed and healthy looking. Braids, beads, and other decorations are often used to enhance one's assets. Accordingly, cutting his hair is considered a controversial thing for a dwarven man, even if not faced by the same kind of social taboo triggered by a naked dwarf chin, an awful sight for any respectable denizen of the mountains. Most dwarves enjoy long wavy hairs, thick and abundant manly manes, only the most troubled or military minded choosing to cut or shave their head in a sign of sorrow or to mark the beginning of a difficult quest.
